The Baba and Nyonya of Malacca or known to some as the Malaccan straits-born Chinese is a result of the inter-marriages of the chinese and the locals of Malacca. Their colourful way of life and the exciting culinary heritage have been an integral part of this community.
In keeping this culinary heritage alive is the popular Restoran Bibik Neo that has been operating in Malacca since 1995. Since then, Bibik Neo has brought delight to the hearts of many people with her delicious dishes prepared from the recipes of her forefathers.
As the shadows of the night descend, we had dinner at the Restoran Bibik Neo along Jalan Merdeka in Taman Melaka Raya, which is operated by a husband and wife team, Henry and Marcia Tan. Specialising in 'Truly Home-cooked Nyonya Food', Bibik Neo produced some authentic Nyonya fare like Buah Keluak Ayam, Udang Lemak Nenas and Malay cuisine infused Otak-otak. Smack Delicious!

Nyonya cooking is actually a very intricate art, being not too suitable for bulk cooking. Any trueblue Nyonya can vouch the difference between genuine dishes and the watered-down version served in many eating outlets.

The Food is cooked in the same manner as in their home. The menu is adequate for a Nonya culinary experience with the usual dishes such as Pongteh, Ayam Buah Keluak Masak Asam, Geram Asam and Itik Tim soup.
